Avocado is a fruit of the American Persea plant native to Central America. It’s very popular in making different recipes and even more in Latin America. Avocado as you may know has very beneficial properties for your health well being.

This fruit is usually yellow, green, or reddish brown. It has the shape of a pear and a very pleasant taste, (though some say it is neutral) perfect to accompany various types of cuisines. One of the popular and erroneous beliefs about avocados is that their fat is “harmful” to health, which is a totally false claim. In fact, it is known that sportsmen rely on avocados as an alternative supplement for their physically demanding activities.

Avocado Health Benefits:

The reality is that avocado is beneficial for everyone, for those who have to work in an office, for children, pregnant women, and older adults. This fruit contains high levels of healthy omega-3 fatty acids along with other beneficial minerals and vitamins.

This fruit has another advantage and it’s that it can be eaten raw, either with salad, vegetables, or even on its own, making it easier to adapt to your routine and diet.

This fruit promotes the growth and repair of muscle tissue, so it is popular among athletes and bodybuilders, thanks to its abundant content of proteins, potassium, zinc, and more. It is very rich in potassium, with a concentration that doubles that of the banana.

Avocados satiate us and help us lose weight.

It is recommended as an effective anti-inflammatory agent for joints, especially in cases of arthritis as it repairs cartilages thanks to its beneficial acids and vitamin E. It can also be used to control appetite and food cravings as it provides soluble and insoluble fibers that make us feel full.

Avocado is very rich in folic acid.

Due to its high percentage of folic acid, it is recommended for intake by pregnant women, as this brings great benefits in the process of fetal formation and helps minimize risks of malformations.

Avocados are great for the heart.

For your heart, avocado offers healthy fats and vitamin E in large amounts, just what you need to avoid heart disease and help keep this vital organ in good shape and full of strength.

Avocado Reduces Cholesterol

Avocado is also perfect if you want to reduce your cholesterol and triglyceride levels, as in addition to helping with these two tasks, avocado can also increase HDL cholesterol by up to 11% (that’s the good cholesterol).

Avocado fats can also help the body absorb nutrients from vegetables and other fruits. These healthy fats help you take advantage of antioxidant absorption 2 to 15 times more than in normal intake, making it a perfect ally for salads and other dishes that include lots of vegetables.

Avocado is a Potent Antioxidant

Thanks to this, avocado serves as an aesthetic addition, preventing the causes of aging and the early appearance of wrinkles and other signs of age, both thanks to its ability to help take advantage of antioxidants and when applied directly on the face as a mask.

Avocado is great for reducing blood cholesterol levels and fighting against arthritis and asthma, too.
